I know studying for USMLE and applying for residency seems to be a difficult process that can be depressing at times and you want to give up, but am writing to share my story to encourage you to keep trying. I am an IMG, have tons of research experience and PhD but have been out of medical school for > 10 yrs. I am very average and I also have a physical disability which makes mobility difficult. My USMLE scores are low and I also have an attempt. Despite all these negatives, I kept applying year after year for residency, doing observerships to improve my clinical skill and knowledge and I am happy to report that I have been able to secure a residency spot and fulfill my dream. So don't give up friends. Keep trying and it will happen.
Good luck to all for this upcoming match.
