I just want to let give a different perspective from a person who knows how hard this exam is and has suffered because of it and what changes I made to break free of this exam and USMLE.
.) USMLE STEP 3 is unlike the other steps. It is mentally exhausting. Having said that, it is doable.
.) Have at least 2 good readings of all subjects before attempting questions. Do not waste your time with doing questions without 2 solid readings.
.)Sources I used - Dr. Reds Videos 2 readings, Premier Review 4 readings , Master The Boards 3 readings, used CMTD for clarification. I used google images alot and created my own powerpoint slides for each subject. This will go a long a way.
.) After 2 readings I did questions timed and mixed from Usmleworld. I did about 100 - 150 questions a a day and reviewed the questions answers and highlighted in my notes.
.) One disadvantage of reading multiple sources is reviewing the last couple of days get tough to finish all so make notes only in one source.
.) Repeating information is the key . Not memorisation but getting the concept.
.) CCS cases I used USMLECONSULT.
.) Exam is doable. you have to remember is a mentally exhausting exam and give it respect before taking the exam.
.) I recommend at least 3-4 months of preparation to be realistic especially if you have not passed before.
.) Pray for strength everyday. Good luck. I wish all of you the best.
