Cone - done in the OR, usually with scalpel and scissors, cut off big chunk of cervix, can bleed a lot. Synonym cold knife conization - done by gyn oncologist in the USA (most of the time).
LEEP - done in the office, by residents, using "piece of circle wire", after local anestesia you remove superficial surface of exocervix.
LEEP preferable method in the USA.
