A 31 yo man with automoble accident fractured multiple ribs and showed signs of paradoxical movt on the Rt chest. No pneumothorax nor hemothorax on CXR. A large pulmonary contusion is developing. Vital signs are stable. How do you proceed?
A. Tracheostomy, mechanical ventilation with PEEP
B. Stabilization of chest wall with sandbag.
C. Stabilization of chest wall with towel clips.
D. Immediate operative stabilization.
E. No treatment unless signs of respiratory distress develops.
