Reactive depression is the opposite of endogenous depression. A person develops reactive depression following a major environmental stress factor e.g loss of a loved one, major business loss or any stress factor in his environment which leads to depression.
In endogenous depression however, there is little external stress factor contributing to the cause of depression. It is produced due to heavy genetic loading, i.e from within. Therefore although the end result in both is depression, in the reactive one, external
stress factors play a major role in the causation whereas in endogenous depression the causative factor is from within, mostly genetic loading and there are less external stressors. Hope this helps.
