The key is to understand that compliance is the same as stretchability and the opposite of elasticity. The
higher the compliance of the lung, the easier it can be stretched, and the less the inward pull of the lung
tissue, which makes a lower intrapleural pressure.
Expect perhaps one or two questions on this topic on the USMLE, but it is still worthwhile to learn because
lung diseases are important for the Step-2 exam and even more so for your future clinical practice.
