Step 1 assesses whether you understand and can apply important concepts of the sciences basic to the
practice of medicine, with special emphasis on principles and mechanisms underlying health, disease,
and modes of therapy.
Pretty much everything you find in physiology/biochem/pathology books as long as it relates to actual
diseases. Remember, most USMLE questions are clinical vignettes, so biochem facts that are not related
to known diseases are unlikely to be tested on the exam.
I recommend to study PATHOLOGY really well. It will also help you with the Step-2 exam!
