E. Multiple endocrine neoplasia is a term used to describe the simultaneous occurrence of endocrine tumors in multiple sites. MEN type 1 is characterized by the formation of tumors in the anterior pituitary gland (pituitary adenomas), parathyroid glands (parathyroid adenomas), and pancreas (islet cell adenomas).
