Hey Mr. Postman, did you read what I wrote after what you wrote? Let me ask you a question, wouldn't you feel better if the person who took the exam 2x and failed took it a third and passed? You need to understand that he/she was writing a message not to say he/she wants to quit but it was more a cry for help. So dude, help that person out and be a little more positive. That person may not get into a neurosurgery residency but I think they would be happy just to pass and get a residency in anything to start off. you can always switch after the first year or so I was told. As far as an older repeater... Has the person been working in the medical field or driving a cab for 30 yrs? I think, and this is just one man's opinion.. is that as long as you have been somehow related to medicine like I have seen in my hospital, most chiefs are willing to at least see you and meet with you. I know a guy who had been a medical IV tech for over 10yrs because his family was in Pakistan. He passed once they were here and he got a residency in internal medicine. He worked in my ER. So, unless you are from the ECFMG committee and are 1000% sure that the person won't get a residency, please keep any negative comments away from the 2x'er. I also believe that maybe he/she may not be used to taking those types of test or maybe they just froze and went blank under pressure. What I do believe though is that if he/she read what I wrote earlier, then that person will make whatever decision they feel right. I will repost both messages I wrote earlier.
