As they have told you already there is no normal preparation time, it is individual. If you say you are an old graduate, it depends on how long you haven't reviewed material or how familiar you still feel with it. You can normally prepare in about 3-6 months. But if you have the time and wish to do it sooner. I have gotten a 6 week study plan which requires about 8-10 hours of study daily or reading that same material in a time frame good for you.
The recommended schedule includes:
Initial Assessment questions from NBME, First Aid for the USMLE, Lippincott's Illustrated Reviews Biochemistry and Pharmacology, High-Yield= Gross Anatomy, Embryology, Neurology, Immunology, BRS Behavioral Sciences and Physiology, Clinical Microbiology Made ridiculuosly simple, Pathology Review by Goljan and Q-Bank. Or another good option is enrolling for a Kaplan course. It all depends on your needs. Good Luck!!!!
