You see, if you want to be in the field you probably could do it. PAs and NPs
have a nice life style. A lot of people who come from abroad have this "all or
nothing" attitude i.e. "if I can't get into residency it means I can't do it at
all". But other people do it all the time. They change lives in the middle; go
to college; do other things to get very they want to me.
I was fortunate enough to not have to go to college or a medical school, but why
not? What is shameful about being in college together with your (or somebody
else's) children?
I'm not saying that you should or should not do any of that, but if your heart
is in so much pain - cure it. There are ways to do it.
PS: we had residents in my program who were 50-55 year old. There is definitely
more than one road to get where you want to be.

And talking about possible debt will not help; I think it is something to
discuss with a financial adviser to see what the options are.
