I was face to face with the program director, and he told me " We will not call you for interview, you have too many Step attempts ( Step 1 81% 3rd, Step 2 CK 86% 2 nd ), good luck". So far 17 programs rejected me but this one was hard for me to digest. This happended 3 hours ago, "It really hurts".
He told me " we need the best doctors", well that part I disagree. USMLE don't tell what kind of doctor you are or will be, is just a standarized method to eliminate candidates for a residency spot.
Some one told me that USMLE is not all of what they look in the application, but well, is NOT true. Scores are everything, and attempts can kill your chances. If this program director take a time to look into my LOR's, Kardex from med school ( 1st place, 96% ), clinical experience ( 2 internships and 4 year of private practice ), he may notice my level of knowledge and readiness for the job.
So far, so good...
