Yes you can do your internship in the US. You would
however need to complete your community med/preventive
and social med requirements in India and you can do the
rest of your internship in the US. When doing an
internship in the US it is called an externship as you
are doing it outside your medical school. Doing this
will be a good idea if you want to get into residency
here in the US as you will get hands on US clinical
experience and you should work hard to get good letters
of recommendation while doing the externship. You
will need permission from your medical school in India
to this. Getting an externship while your status is
still as "student" as internship in India is generally
required to graduate, it is much easier to get this US
clinical experience through an externship.
DO NOT GO THROUGH AN AGENCY.
Apply to the programs yourself.
Do a Google search to find what programs are taking
applications and apply directly for the externships.
You do not get paid doing an externship.
