Hey Dr.Rock, whenever u have time, can you give us some ideas about the different health care systems,
I was in Ireland as a student for at least 16 months, they have healthcare for everyone. Taxes are high, you cannot get surgery (such as Knee arthroscopy) right away like we do here. Wards have rooms where 4-5 pts are in the same room-for cath people had to go to Dublin, not many rooms in ER and ICU. Specialists such as plastic surgeons are rare. The good thing is everyone can see the doctor and they can have expensive meds like chemo. But I feel like charting system, etc etc is not as good as here.
I am definitely not the expert on this country's health care system-what do u think will happen in the next few yrs.I dont think much will change for primary care.
Some Third world countries have no health insurance system and they have to pay everything for the doctor's visits-there are free clinics but pts dont get best quality care. Sometimes there's not much preventative medicine, just b/c pts only come when they are sick or it's too late or there's no vaccinations or mammos/paps/colonoscopy etc. Some hospitals have funds to support people but not enough, what do u think of all those systems?
