If the only degree you have obtained is an MBBS from India, thats the only degree you have. Sure, its considered equivalent to an MD given in the US, but you cannot interchange it. Another misocnception is that once you are done with a residency, you can call yourself an MD. Thats not true. Residency is just hands on, on-the-job specialised training meant for those who have received their medical school degree eg, MD in the US, MBBS in India, MBBch in the UK..
Most universities will give you a certificate at the end of your residency which will have your original medical diploma on it. Please confirm this with ECFMG if you must.
