First of all I agree with you on your stand about being optimistic. But unfortunately you have missed my point clearly. For your reference here is the text of my post titled “wow”
“Being optimistic is one of the tools for becoming successful in life.
Other more important one are knowing what the ground reality is and having insight into problems. Both will let you know where do you stand and what your weakness are. Most importantly you should know how to rectify them to become great.
Without these crucial tools in your toolbox being extremely optimistic is like expecting some one to knock are your door and saying “Do you want a residency spot. If yes here is the contract please read it and signs at the bottom”
By reading just the first sentence you should have known that I don’t underestimate the importance of it. My point is simply-- being optimistic alone won’t get you very far from where you are standing now. You need to have these “tools” to know what your weaknesses are and more importantly how to improve on them.
Regarding “tools” of success you dragged the USMLE scores into it. Did I mention a word about scores?
By having /not having these I meant weaknesses in personality not application.
Let me elaborate on what I meant by knowing what ground reality is plus having insight into problems. Both these “tools” are produce of a “third eye”.
I say there are two eyes looking outwards and one looking inwards. By using it you can dissect yourself layer by layer to know where the problem is. But full stop doesn’t come after this. The “third eye” also gives you solutions to your problems.
I shall elaborate more about this in my next post.
