sorry but I did not do Observership. I did my core and elective rotations through a University. It is not difficult, but citizenship helps, or Green Card. Observership is ok, but not the greatest. It is not hands on, actually if you have not yet cleared step 3, I would recommend doing that first. Observership mainly counts if you do it in the same place in which you want to apply. Then it can mean alot, esp if you get to know the residents, and chief residents. Otherwise you are just mainly following people around. Clerkship I think is different, but you have to be a student to make that happen.
