It is getting close to the time for start of applications for the 2008 match and I am sure you may have a lot of questions. Some of the questions may sound silly but no quetion is silly or stupid in my opinion except those that are not asked. Some people assume things and that is when you may land in trouble.
As an IMG, I have been there and learned some of the things by doing mistakes. When I started residency, I wanted to help others and thus started residentscafe where I am a moderator. Over the years, I learnt things as I was helping others. Now that I am completing my residency and becoming an attending, I would like to continue to help others by answering their questions free of charge. While I check this forum sometimes, if you want a speedier answer, you can post it in the residentscafe forums.
Some of things to keep in mind - start short listing the programs you want to apply, get all the LOR's, other documents ready and start sending them to ERAS ASAP, apply early and follow up on a frequent basis. Wish you all the best in your pursuit of residency!
