Family Med then Int. med : guys help Rock & others

if I started a family med. program this07/07 when could I apply to int.med which is my interst,I mean 09/07 the season will start ,how can I apply and I am still new in the family med .at that time.
is a good idea or just wait and apply for the int.med without starting with Family med ,
