By handson experience...they mean you need clinical experience here. And by asking for that those programs are looking for IMG's who have done clinical rotations here. Most americans who dont get into medical schools here and still want to go to med schools, go to carribean schools...indian schools etc...and after their first two years they do their clinical rotations in the US. So during that time they r getting lots of hands on experience. After they r finished with the rotations...they go back to their schools...pass their exams and graduate. So now they r eligible for residency here and they have hands on experience as well...
so i guess that is the kind of people these programs are targeting for
Well people like us who already graduated...we dont have much choice...because we cant do the above stuff now...so we shud just apply to programs who dont have that requirement.
