On CS you're not supposed to have a definite diagnosis eg common cold. There are many differentials when a person comes with cough, fever etc. You take a history, do the physical exam & tell the patient that there are a few possibilities you can think of & further tests are necessary to make a definite diagnosis - after the results are in you will call him in & discuss his treatment options.
