Fellowship varies. Some programs may offer 2 year fellowship but to be elligible one must need to get ECFMG certified at the least. Practicing in US would require a full license which will mean to meet the state medical board requirements and that will mean passing all the USMLE steps and a residcncy in surgery. There are all sorts of rumors but to be honest, there is no short cut way here in US to practice. Marrying a US citizen may at the most help some one get green card a bit earlier. Thats all. No other previlege. If you plan to return to India after doing a fellowship and practice in India, you may not need to get US state medical license.
